Review: Dear Frankie (2004)

All I have to say about this movie is: WOW. This movie was fantastic from start to finish.

The story revolves around Frankie (Jack McElhone), a young deaf boy living with his mother, Lizzie (Emily Mortimer), and grandmother, Nell (Mary Riggans). Lizzie has been running from Frankie's abusive father for years, moving all over Scotland. She tells Frankie that his father works on a large ship which is why he is not with the family. Due to a weird coincidence, Lizzie must find someone to pretend to be Frankie's father when the ship Frankie thinks his father is on, docks in the town they are living in.

In comes The Stranger, played by the brilliant and drop-dead gorgeous Gerard Butler *drool*. Lizzie enters into an arrangement with The Stranger, whose name we never find out, but doesn't anticipate what will happen when he interacts with Frankie who is finally getting a father figure in his life.

Im stopping here with only one final thing to say. There is no sex, drugs or Hollywood ending, but it is the most real movie I've seen in a while. I loved it so much I went out and bought the DVD. I even paid full price. So you know it must be good. Because I am very cheap.
